Our Logo
RTC North’s logo is based on a curious surface known as a ‘mobius strip’. With only one side and one edge, mobius strips have found a variety of applications that exploit this remarkable property.
Turning conveyor belts into giant mobius strips uses both sides of the belt and extends their working life. They have also found an application as continuous-loop recording tapes and versatile electronic resistors.
The mobius strip was named after the 19th Century German mathematician and astronomer, August Ferdinand Mobius. Mobius was a pioneer in the field of topology and along with his better known contemporaries, Riemann, Lobachevsky and Bolyai, created a non-Euclidean revolution in geometry.
