Trevor Gregory – Managing Director
Trevor's extensive knowledge of the RES, RIS and the issues surrounding R&D and innovation support will enable us to deliver maximum value to the project.
Trevor started his career taking up a post of Senior Lecturer in Physical and Analytical Chemistry at the University of the West of England.
He then moved to industry and worked for Coates Lorilleux, which was part of the TOTAL Group of companies as the Colloid Science and Rheology Section Manager. He subsequently joined Bohlin Instruments, manufacturers of Rheological instrumentation, as the Applications Ma¬nager and had a Global remit for pre- and post-sales support.
He then moved back into an academic environment and worked as the Industrial Coordinator with the Bristol Colloid Centre at the University of Bristol, working on a DTI-funded project on ‘Colloid Technology Awareness in the Formulated Product’. In December 2003 Trevor was appointed as Managing Director of IMPACT Faraday Ltd. (a company limited by guarantee) when the Faraday received its second tranche of DTI funding.
In May 2005 Trevor joined Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency for Yorkshire and the Humber, as the Director of Yorkshire Science, the Science and Innovation Council. He was the architect of the Regional Innovation Strategy which was published in November 2006.
Ian Henderson – Project Manager
Ian joined RTC North in February 2007 to lead FP7 support activities in the Yorkshire and Humberside region. Working with universities, business multipliers, individual companies and other organisations, his main responsibilities are to promote programme awareness and facilitate participation in collaborative R&D. He subsequently transferred to RTC Yorkshire following the company re-organisation.
Prior to joining RTC North Ian gained extensive project management experience in the role of Engineering Projects Manager with DuPont, and latterly Agfa-Gevaert, where he managed all aspects capital programme planning and execution at their Leeds manufacturing site.
Ian’s research career started in the printing and publishing sector with Sericol Group (now FUJIFILM Sericol) in Broadstairs, Kent, where he was involved in the development of novel photo-sensitive coatings by modification of water soluble polymers.
Nicholas Marchetti – Project Manager
Nicholas Marchetti has extensive experience in Technology Transfer and Innovation. Following his degree in Genetics, he completed a PhD in Reproductive Biology with the Medical Research Council. He then left the lab to work on a contract with Defra as National Contact Point for the EU’s Framework Programme for Research & Development in the fields of ‘Food Quality and Safety’ and ‘Global Change and Ecosystems’. Subsequently, Nicholas worked at Yorkshire Forward, responsible for the management and delivery of the award-winning Centres of Industrial Collaboration. Nicholas is responsible for the Enterprise Europe Yorkshire project at RTC.
Andy Taylor – Project Executive
Andy started his career for GEC Marconi (now BAE Systems) conducting cutting edge research into infra-red detectors for military applications. This led to a move to Bookham Technology where new opto-electronic technology was being developed on silicon that required skilled and flexible scientists. After helping to develop a key technology, Andy was promoted to Senior Engineer and given the challenge of taking a lead product into mass production.
Further academic studies included a Masters in Nanotechnology which then led to a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between Authentix and the University of York. Here a novel analytical product was developed in a successful two year project.
Oliver Finkill – Project Executive
Oliver Finkill has a degree in International Business Studies and has spent two years working in the public sector where he developed his understanding of innovation and innovation measurement. He compiled the Yorkshire and Humber 2007 innovation measurement document, which is now used as the foundation of the monitoring programme for the implementation of the regional innovation strategy. Since joining RTC Yorkshire Oliver has devoted a large amount of his time, and used his innovation measurement knowledge to create the Innovation Evaluation Tool.
